Assisting new mothers in giving their babies a healthy start

Breastfeeding can be an overwhelming task for a new mother.  The Smart Start Breastfeeding program provides fellowship and supportive know-how to new mothers enrolled in the Women, Infants and Children’s program, greatly increasing their chances of successful breastfeeding and boosting the long-term mental and physical health of their babies.  The program also offers breast pump lending program and Spanish-speaking counselors.  For more information, call the Union County Health Department at 704-296-4890.
